The work
Oil and alcohol ink. Water, weather, and the long coastal light. Some pieces are built in patient layers; others are chased across the paper while the colour is still moving.
“I started to follow my heart; only then could I see the true colours of my future.”

Alcohol ink
While it's still moving
Pigment chased across paper: bloom, feather and bleed, caught at the moment the colour decides to settle.

The artist
Cam John
Cam John paints in oil and alcohol ink, returning again and again to water, weather and the changing coastal light. The oils are built up slowly; the inks are quick and unrepeatable. Two ways of chasing the same thing.
Each painting here is an original. Prints and cards of selected works have been made over the years; to ask about a specific piece, start a conversation below.
